Charity Event - National Cancer Society of Malaysia

This year MYS will be participating in the National Cancer Society of Malaysia (NCSM) Relay for Life fundraiser.

The Relay for Life is an overnight event organised annually to raise funds for cancer research and provide supportive care for Malaysians impacted by cancer. It is also a celebration of the strength of all cancer survivors and a remembrance of those who lost their battle with the disease.

The services MYS will be providing at this event are:

  • 10 minute choreographed Yoga performance
  • 90 minutes Yoga session for all participants
  • Active participation in the relay
  • Donations

To join in the fun, we are setting up a team of students, family and friends to attend the relay for life. There will be camping tents available for purchase as it is an overnight relay. There will be lots of performances, fun games and activities throughout the night. The only thing is, a team has to ensure that someone is taking turns on the track during the whole 16- hour event.

The details of the event are as follows:

Time and Date: 6 p.m. 31st May 2008 until 10 a.m. 1st June 2008

Venue: MSN Training Stadium Bukit Jalil

Cost: RM 10 per person (Tents are charged separately at RM50 for a group of 6 pax)

If anyone is interested in participating for the relay, being a part of our Yoga performance or making a donation, please contact Shahrean on 016- 9096 099.

For more information on the relay, visit the NCSM website at www.cancer.org.my

Chiang Mai Retreat - 6th March - 9th March 08

"The Unfolding of Consciousness"

For the first time, MYS organised a retreat overseas in beautiful Chiang Mai, Thailand. We stayed at the Ayatana Hamlet and Spa, a boutique hotel ideally nestled away from the city center. Ayatana, which means 6 sense, was designed to cater to the senses with its peaceful surroundings decorated in luxurious Lanna style. It was the perfect location for a Yoga retreat. Students were taken through an intense session covering the theoretical aspects of Yoga, Asanas, Bandhas, Mudras, Pranayama and Meditation.

Participant Feedback

"My experience during the retreat has been very rewarding. It was a very good experience in terms of understanding concepts and ideas better, getting to spend time with Suleiha, doing Yoga together with everybody else in a nice relaxed environment"

Komal

"The notion of being away from the mundane living pattern is most exhilarating. The morning session is most enjoyable and the lying down and looking up at the sky with the foliage in the foreground is memorable"

Dato' Lai

"Doing Yoga at 6 a.m. was enjoyable. The retreat has made me realise how important it is to wake up early. Apart from that it was great bonding with all the Yoga students"

Kamala

"Remember to apply the Laws of Nature and Laws of Yoga at all times. Be good, think good, act good at all times and only good things will come"

When the breath wanders the mind also is unsteady. But when the breath is calmed the mind too will be still, and the yogi achieves long life. Therefore, one should learn to control the breath.

Participant Feedback

“The most significant thing I learnt from this retreat is that I can be a vegetarian without feeling hungry for more than 48 hours. A feat I had never achieved in my whole life”

Ng

“On the second day, I learned from my guru how to divert my energy. Immediately the energy in me has reduced its velocity as I’m directing to pierce through each chakra. I felt a form of resistance when the energy was trying to pierce through my chakra. I felt so serene, calm and peaceful when the energy pierces through my crown chakra. It was a beautiful state to be in”

Lily

“While in my meditation, I realized what you also said, ‘you have everything within you, one don’t have to look far’. This has been a mind opening experience in real sense. The feeling when I could identify my colours of my chakras was very encouraging for my meditation. Although I have taken your yoga classes, this trip has been an intensive meditation course which I truly enjoyed. I have learned the finer points and art in meditation, which through my practice, I will improve. After this trip, I feel I have no fear in life”

Kamala

“Learnt a new mantra today: Clean Thoughts, Clean Words and Clean Action. How I wish everyone in the world will practice this”

Datin Nah

“In the Pyramid, when it was my turn to stand on the plate, I felt that I was showered by something soft, fluffy (cloud like) and it enveloped all around me and I felt very strongly that I was loved

Najwa

Participant Feedback

“This retreat was fabulous, after a long time I had spend time on only myself. We forget ourselves, our needs, our bodies, and our relaxation for our families, friends and busy lifestyle. Thanks to this retreat we were able to rediscover our aura, our chakras, our nostrils and we all underestimated our stamina at this wonderful meditation. I feel like I am special, thanks to our guru, who always says ‘You did it!!’”

Marium

“Thank our dear Guru for taking me through such an immense world of the unknown and ventured path with such great guidance and, knowing my ability and the little knowledge that I have, used a gentle caring way to then open up this treasure vault for me. No wealth could have brought me this immense invaluable jewel of insight to the world of peace, unconditional love, preparing myself to meet my creator one day”

Mathilda

“Realised that I could perhaps reach that target of meditation that I have been searching for many years. My faith in myself and the purpose of life will be greatly enforced. Thank you”

Zil
