What is Yoga Therapy?

Yoga is a holistic system of self- healing. Using natural methods of treatment, Yoga therapy works silently on the body system, restoring it to its natural state. This form of therapy has been used since ancient times as a fit science to treat disorders of both the body and mind. It is simultaneously a curative as well as a preventive system that deals with physiological and psychosomatic disorders. In a sense, cure is a natural corollary of Yoga. 

According to Yogic view, diseases, disorders and ailments are due to reduced immunity caused by insufficient life force (prana) in the body. In modern day, this reduced life force is the result of faulty ways of living, bad habits, improper food and lack of proper awareness and understanding of oneself. Therefore, Yoga holds that a person’s health condition depends on the individual and the cure also lies within that individual.  

Its practice removes ailments, aches and prevents deterioration of the body. Ailments that can be controlled and at times eradicated include: diabetes, blood pressure irregularities, neck and spinal pain, arthritis, asthma, migraine and sinus.    

Yoga Therapy Vs Medication

More and more people are opting for alternative therapy that uses natural methods of treatment as opposed to conventional medicine. Yoga has a medical and therapeutic side that has lent it a new dimension as a primary health cure for various disorders.

In general, we primarily rely on medication when we fall ill. It is assumed that a particular medicine will cure a particular disease. As the task of restoring health is assigned to the medicine, the individual has to do very little or nothing at all.  However, in the Yogic system, the main emphasis is on the individuals curing themselves. Through Yogic practices such as cleansing, postures, breathing and meditation, internal balance is restored for good health to manifest.

Since the system of therapeutic Yoga is now scientifically established, it can be used as a ‘self-cure method’ by people suffering from various disorders in any part of the world. However, it is important to note that Yoga therapy has to be learnt from a qualified instructor to ensure safe techniques are maintained.

Oxygen Therapy:
